So, after all the patches I've sewn, I decided to make some 3-D guys. And with the help of The Cute Book by Aranzi Aronzo I decided to make a mascot a day for 18 days and blog about how it goes. So if you want to follow along, or come back in 18 days and see how it all turned out, thanks and cool.
As you can see I started with the monkey. He was really fun to sew, not so fun to stuff, but I think he turned out as serious as he was supposed to. My kids are having fun pretending he knows karate and having him speak in Japanese. I think he will be a novelty for another three minutes before he hits the giant pile of toys in the toy box.
The coolest part about making the monkey was the face. I've never done a triple french knot before. It was so neat seeing his little personality shine through. Oh, and the book was also lots of fun to read. It says, "Everyone will say, "how cute!" (we promise) People will be jealous and might even resent you. Be careful. Cute felt mascots. Easy to make felt mascots. Nice felt mascots. Crazy felt mascots. BRAVO! FELT MASCOTS!" How could you not love this book? And so begins the whirlwind of sewing 18 mascots in three weeks. (I get Sundays off) We'll see how it all works out.
