"Koji" a Hillary Lang Creation

Isn't he so cute! It was really fun for me to make this little guy. My fingers are sore from hand sewing the spikes down the back.

Owl Journal (for Fall)

I've actually been wanting to get back into making felt patches for a few months. I finally got around to it. This owl makes me think of Adventure Time. <3 I think it's pretty cute! Life goes on...

Embroidery Hoop Wall Hanging (Green)

I just love this green striped upholstery fabric so much! I have used it to make a lot of books and decided I would use the last scraps for these two small wall hangings. The card stock is from an old calendar from 2009. I stained the wood golden. Now I just need to find a place on my wall! :D

Embroidery and crochet

I made another lavender Sachet with an embroidered leaf that I sewed on the family trip to Cali. It smells soo good! I wish I could take it with me everywhere, but alas, I cannot.
I am leaving this in the hoop for a wall hanging. I need to stain the hoop with dark varnish first to match the other ones though.
My daughter Josie made these crochet Amigurumi octopi. I love them so much!! :D

Kimono Journal

A Panda sits atop a kimono journal. :)
I like the pink linen waxed thread. It looks great with this fabric.
The end pages fabric is designed with golden grass blades. The whole process was so fun this time around since I haven't had time to do much crafting lately. I'm so glad I found a job...if only I could be a full time crafter instead. A girl can dream!

Summer sewing projects

I finally finished this journal that I have been working on for a few weeks. I also finished up the embroidery kitty that my daughter Sylvia designed for me. I am planning on making a journal for her. I love sewing on linen, it's so much easier than fabric. I will add the photo of the journal once it's done. Until then, I hope you enjoy your summer!

Granny Squares embroidery wall hanging

Ugh. I totally messed up while making this journal (The pattern is crooked on the book board) so I just made it into a wall hanging instead. It really bummed me out for a while, but that's life...

Flannel pillowcases

I loved making these pillow cases for me and my family. Mine is the one with all the small animals and birdhouses, Jeremy's is the headphones and records one, Josie got the fox with glasses and a bow tie, Mia's is the multicolored foxes, and Sylvia's has the bunnies. I really miss using my sewing machine these days while I am finishing up school. I am hoping to make some more toys this summer.

Pillow talk

I loved the idea of this pillow...the final result, not so much. I think the fabric I used was too shiny/thin and so the cotton looks wonky in there. Oh well, it was still fun to make while listening to Alvvays.
Christmas was great!
My dad made me this frame as a Christmas gift. The photo is my family at our cabin in July.

Canvas journal with rice stitch binding

I made a journal of canvas with grey felt sewed to the back for extra padding.
The button is made of coconut wood.
I used long stitch binding then did the rice (weaving) stitch with a maroon floss. It was so fun!
Close up!

Embroidery hoop wall hanging

I made a bird of embroidery floss and kept it in the hoop I stained last week. Now it's on the wall behind my desk.
I made the other hanging lantern picture earlier and hung it up too.
Here's the wall behind my laptop. Homework corner!

Bonsai Journal

It's amazing what you can get done on a snow day! I really wanted to make a felt pine tree to add to this journal, but since I am so bogged down with homework I decided to just add this calendar image instead. I am a HUGE fan of Bonsai trees and have had my bonsai ficus tree for going on 13 years! My goal is to have at least 3 trees that I can pass down to my three kids when I die. I know it sounds weird, but since I'm planning on being dirt poor by then, at least I can pass on something beautiful.

Pink and Grey notebook

I am still surviving 15 credits! Hallelujah I am half-way through the semester. I made this little notebook from some fabric that I got from my sister. I was really excited to have a party at the sister's retreat that was especially for me, where I got a bunch of sewing supplies. I have been wanting to make something with this ever since. I also made this little felt star last weekend during conference. I can't wait to have more free time for sewing and baking. Tchau!

Bookbinding again

Last one until Christmas break probably. I am already feeling sad about it, but I will have more time later. :)

Turquoise Shroom

I made some mushroom tops of felt and then attached them to this linen journal. I really like how it turned out. I also made a new patterned stitch on the spine which looks kinda cool. School starts in 10 days. I am gonna be so swamped with 15 credits! We are getting ready for an insane few months. Anyway, it's been a great summer and I've loved the break with the girls. It is probably my last summer off before I get a job. Life goes on...

Embroidery on Linen

My daughter helped me choose the embroidery thread that reminded us of a summer smoothie. I did a free form flower on the drive from Boise to Bend and then from Bend to Newport, OR. for a gathering with my sisters. It turned out pretty cool. Even though I am not a huge fan of pink in general, knowing that a smoothie inspired the colors makes it seem cooler.
Here I am at the ocean. I wish I could live there.
